“Memphis”  The word just sweats with character, true grit, history, and barbecue sauce.
But a “Mini-Memphis Style BBQ Burger”?  With Kraft cheese slices?  Pleeeeeeeeeze!

Of late, there seems to be an awareness of Memphis’ distinction of personality, sassy southern lore, and home-smoked pork – the likes of which are nowhere else to be found.  So, why is it that the authenticity of all these great things, which are so first nature to Memphians seems to be completely lost by those who want to “have a little”, to grab the Memphis thing for promotion, or sell-out to some Hollywood perversion of it all.  It can be more than a little upsetting.

To begin to mention names might be less than gentile – another Memphis trait lost in the many translations – so, we’ll avoid that.  One might understand how out-of-towners could innocently miss the point of it all.  But how can native Memphians concede to fabricating diluted carry-outs in their upward strivings?  And don’t get me wrong.  I’m all for enterprise, prosperity, and innovation.  BUT….There’s really much much more to be made in getting it right and bringing the heart and soul of Memphis to the rest of the depraved world – isn’t there?

It’s like this.  Does a Memphis barbecue (remember - that’s a pork sandwich with slaw and sauce!) have to be contorted into something else – some shake and bake, hamburger helper, instant breakfast formula to be marketable?
Those who agree ….. please, get a life.
Those who disagree, please say, “Hale NO!”’

Memphis on the shelf
Memphis on the t.v.
Memphis as something else?

Good to see the interest.
But hey, let’s keep it real.  Cuz “real” is what Memphis is all about.
